Change

With fall creeping up on us, the leaves are changing colors, the air is crisp and the smells in the kitchen are yummy. This time of year is all about change. Changes are happening all around me. I look at my 16 year old son, who was my first-born and I can hardly believe that he is no longer my little one. I no longer look down at him, but up at him, he is over 6 feet tall. Where did that time go? He use to look at me as if I knew everything! I could tell just by looking into his dark brown eyes how much he admired me, we were such very close buddies. Now when I look at him, I have to wonder what he is thinking. Is he happy, is he doing ok, how is this teenage stage of his life treating him? Is there something he wants to tell me, does he know I was once a teenager? Does he know of my unconditional love for him? Does he know that I am his BIGGEST fan? I see him changing into a fine young man. I see that he stood right by my side, the day we went to my cousin's apartment and found that she had passed. He stayed there with me and his dad for the 5 hours it took to finish everything up. He is an amazing person and he is my son! I am so proud to say that. I hope that whatever the changes for him are over the next 10 years that I will be included in each season of his life.

Holding On!

These 6 hands are the ones that I touch most in my life! They are the ones that at the end of the day I thank my Heavenly Father for. They are what make my life fun and fulfilled. When times are tough, we must hold each others hands a little tighter.
Just like any roller coaster ride there are turns and twists, times that we are trudging ever slowly uphill and times that we are excelling downhill. This is a new ride for us, we don't know what is around the next corner. We will laugh during our ride, cry, be happy, scared, excited and maybe even a little nauseas, but it will still be a great ride!
We chose this ride and we may have even chose who we sit next too, I can't remember that part. We will not get off this ride until it is done and we will hold on tight to each other, squeezing ever so hard at times! Enjoying the ride all along the way!
