Change

With fall creeping up on us, the leaves are changing colors, the air is crisp and the smells in the kitchen are yummy. This time of year is all about change. Changes are happening all around me. I look at my 16 year old son, who was my first-born and I can hardly believe that he is no longer my little one. I no longer look down at him, but up at him, he is over 6 feet tall. Where did that time go? He use to look at me as if I knew everything! I could tell just by looking into his dark brown eyes how much he admired me, we were such very close buddies. Now when I look at him, I have to wonder what he is thinking. Is he happy, is he doing ok, how is this teenage stage of his life treating him? Is there something he wants to tell me, does he know I was once a teenager? Does he know of my unconditional love for him? Does he know that I am his BIGGEST fan? I see him changing into a fine young man. I see that he stood right by my side, the day we went to my cousin's apartment and found that she had passed. He stayed there with me and his dad for the 5 hours it took to finish everything up. He is an amazing person and he is my son! I am so proud to say that. I hope that whatever the changes for him are over the next 10 years that I will be included in each season of his life.
